South Yarra and Toorak
South Yarra is where Chapel Street begins, with fashion stores, cocktail bars and late restaurants running south from Toorak Road. Its apartment towers cluster around the station and along the river, and the Royal Botanic Gardens lie just to the west. Toorak, next door, is the city's most exclusive address, with mansions on leafy streets and a small village of boutiques on Toorak Road.
The area attracts visitors who like the city's nightlife but want something a little more polished, and many Melbourne escorts who work the inner south-east describe themselves in exactly those terms. In-calls in South Yarra are mostly in modern apartments near the station, while out-calls to Toorak are usually to private homes, where discretion is expected.
South Yarra station is a busy interchange for the Frankston, Pakenham, Cranbourne and Sandringham lines, and trams run along Chapel Street and Toorak Road. On Friday and Saturday nights Chapel Street is crowded, and taxis are easier to find on the main roads.
