Merrylands and Guildford
South-west of Parramatta, Merrylands is a busy town centre with a large shopping centre, apartment towers going up around the station and a main street of bakeries, sweet shops and grills. Guildford, the next stop along the line, is smaller and more residential, with its own strip of shops and quiet streets of brick houses.
The rail line from Harris Park through Merrylands and Guildford heads south-west towards Liverpool, so both are easy to reach by train from Parramatta. Woodville Road carries traffic between Parramatta and the south-west and is busy at most hours.
The newer apartment towers near Merrylands station supply the area's in-calls, and out-calls cover the surrounding houses.
