Pyrmont and Darling Harbour
Darling Harbour was once a goods yard and wharves; today it is a long promenade of restaurants and hotels running from Cockle Bay to the International Convention Centre and Tumbalong Park. Across the old Pyrmont Bridge, closed to cars and open to walkers, Pyrmont climbs a sandstone peninsula of converted woolstores, apartment blocks and the casino precinct, with the Australian National Maritime Museum at the water's edge.
Hotels here are among the busiest in the city, filled by conference delegates, tourists and event crowds, which makes Pyrmont and Darling Harbour some of the most common out-call addresses in Sydney. In-calls are spread through the apartment buildings of Pyrmont and Ultimo. The light rail runs through the peninsula with several stops, and ferries call at Pyrmont Bay, so the area is easy to reach without driving.
