Warrandyte, Donvale and Doncaster East
Warrandyte is a river town with a gold-rush past, set in a deep bend of the Yarra about twenty-five kilometres from the city. Its main street has galleries, a bakery and cafes overlooking the water, mudbrick houses hide among the gum trees, and the state park along the river includes the tunnel miners cut at Pound Bend to divert the Yarra. Donvale, to the south, is a semi-rural suburb of large bush blocks along the Mullum Mullum Creek, and Doncaster East is a settled suburb of family homes off Doncaster Road.
