St Ives and St Ives Chase
St Ives sits on a plateau east of the North Shore line, reached by Mona Vale Road, which climbs from Pymble on its way to the Northern Beaches. Unlike its neighbours on the railway, it grew up around a shopping village on the main road rather than a station, and its streets spread out from there into large blocks backing onto bushland. The showground and the Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden lie on its northern side, with Garigal National Park to the east.
Buses run to Gordon and Pymble stations and to the city, but most people here drive. Bookings are nearly all out-calls to houses, and companions coming from Chatswood, Hornsby or the Northern Beaches use Mona Vale Road to get in. Those based in Pymble or Gordon are closest.
Mona Vale Road is busy and has few places to stop, so a clear note on which side street to turn into saves a companion circling. Sydney escorts who work the upper North Shore usually treat St Ives as part of the same area as Pymble and Turramurra.
