Mosman and Balmoral
Mosman fills a broad headland between Middle Harbour and the main harbour, and is one of Sydney's wealthiest suburbs. Military Road carries its shops and the buses that run to the city, meeting Spit Road at Spit Junction. Below the ridge the suburb breaks into bays and beaches: Balmoral with its esplanade and little island, Chowder Bay and the old military buildings at Georges Heights, and Mosman Bay with its ferry wharf. Taronga Zoo occupies the harbour shore to the south.
Out-calls to homes are the usual arrangement, and companions coming from North Sydney, Neutral Bay or the Northern Beaches cover Mosman readily. In-calls are scarce, with only a handful of apartment blocks near Military Road. Traffic on Military Road is heavy at peak hour and on summer weekends, when beachgoers head for Balmoral and the Spit, so give a little extra time either side.
