The city and the Esplanade
Central Cairns is a small grid of streets facing the inlet, and almost everything a visitor needs is within a few blocks. The Esplanade runs along the waterfront with its free swimming lagoon, boardwalk and open-air restaurants, the night markets sell souvenirs and food until late, and the reef fleet terminal and marina at the southern end are where the boats leave for the reef each morning.
Most visitors stay within walking distance of the Esplanade, so hotel visits and nearby in-calls make up much of the trade. Cairns escorts who work the city know the main hotels well, and touring companions usually base themselves in a city apartment so that clients can reach them on foot.
