Larrakeyah, Cullen Bay, Stuart Park and The Gardens
Just west of the city, Larrakeyah sits on the headland around the old army barracks, and Cullen Bay below it is a marina of apartments and waterfront restaurants. Stuart Park, to the north, is a mix of older tropical houses and newer units, and The Gardens holds the botanic gardens, the resort casino and Mindil Beach, where the famous sunset markets run on dry-season evenings.
These suburbs are a few minutes from the city and among the most pleasant places to stay, and their apartments and resort rooms are popular for bookings. Darwin escorts often mention meeting near Cullen Bay or after the Mindil markets, and many will visit the resort and marina apartments for out-calls.
The drive from the city takes five minutes, and a walk along the foreshore at sunset is one of the city's great pleasures. On market nights the roads around Mindil Beach are busy until the stalls close.
