Willoughby, Naremburn and Castlecrag
Between the busy centres of Chatswood and St Leonards sits a pocket of quiet residential streets. Naremburn is a small suburb of cottages and townhouses beside the Gore Hill Freeway, Willoughby spreads north around Penshurst Street and its local shops, and Castlecrag reaches out on a rocky peninsula into Middle Harbour, laid out a century ago by Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony Griffin with houses set into the bush.
None of the three has a train station; buses link them with Chatswood, St Leonards and the city, and both stations are a short ride away. That makes this mainly out-call territory. Companions with in-calls in Chatswood or Crows Nest often come here to visit homes, and some locals prefer to make the short trip to an apartment near a station.
