Moore Park and Centennial Park
South-east of Surry Hills the terraces give way to open space. Centennial Park, opened in 1888, is a huge stretch of ponds, lawns and riding tracks, and Moore Park beside it holds the Sydney Cricket Ground, Allianz Stadium, the Hordern Pavilion and an entertainment precinct of cinemas and restaurants. The light rail from Circular Quay runs past on its way to Randwick and Kingsford, with a stop at Moore Park.
Very few people live inside the parks, so bookings here are mostly about the neighbourhoods around them: Paddington to the north, Kensington to the south and the apartments of Surry Hills to the west. What changes the picture is the event calendar. On a match or concert night tens of thousands of people move through the area, the roads around Anzac Parade slow to a crawl and rideshares are hard to find.
